THE PIXIES IN CHICAGO!

(<-- Found that online - I wish I was in Chicago that early - could have seen Devendra with John!)

Okay so - I've been meaning to update for some time now... especially since I just recently went the the best concert of my life!
Two weekends ago I went to Chicago. This trip revolved around seeing my two best friends, Caitlin and John, who both live there and also mainly to see The Pixies in concert - WHO were on a reunion tour of the Doolittle album - WHICH happens to be the very first album I ever bought in my life! Exciting.
The show I went to on the 21st I guess was the only sold out show of the weekend (as informed by another concert goer standing behind me).
Unfortunately, I was sick for the concert, for my entire stay in Chicago over the weekend and I'm still not completely over it yet. I went to the doctor when I got back and it turns out I had bronchitis and a pretty bad ear infection. Despite my state of health I wasn't going to let it get to me, damnit!
I got to the show just in time to still be able to weasel my way up to the front. This was a bad idea at first considering there was no way out of that decision; I went to the show by myself - so there was no one to protect me from the crazy audience and I was sick and in no state of health to be squished by thousands of crazy fans. Fortunately, I was standing looking helpless next to this guy who was protecting his girlfriend and he guilted this big guy next to us into helping me out. Once the big guy diffused the blows from the moshers for me I could rock out!
When I'm in situations like this I often get a sort of large embarrassing grin on my face that try as I might will not go away - the example below is a shot of this expression from a Rilo Kiley concert a couple of years ago in a similar state of euphoria!

Well - I looked something like this (and most likely even more ridiculous) and I was right up front and at one point Kim looked down and sort of made fun of me smiling. We had a moment! Haha.
The show was absolutely amazing - I found this set list online and by the three encores I'm sure you can tell how absolutely epic it was!
